Description: [0001] The present invention relates to a wristwatch case, in particular a watch case that adapts to the size of the wrist of the wearer.
It is already known from the state of the art of watches that include a watch case arranged for small wrists. In general, there is a clear distinction between men's and women's watches because, in terms of morphology, men's watch cases are designed for larger wrists than watch cases for men. woman.
The main disadvantage lies in the fact that even within men or women, wrist sizes are different and that the watch case imperfectly marries the wrist of his wearer. Of course, the larger the watch case, the greater the need to respect the curvature of the wrist.
It is clear that there are already wristwatches with a casing containing the movement and lower surface curved in the direction of the contour of the bracelet, in order to marry more or less perfectly the shape of the wrist.
Thus known for example FR 454 987 which describes a wristwatch having an elongated box whose lower surface is bent in relation to the conformation of a human arm. The movement is mounted on a large bent plate in the form of several adjacent faces of a prism and extending across all the space available inside the box, in order to be able to further bend the bottom surface. of the box to make him marry exactly the arm.
The object of the present invention is to provide an aesthetic watch case adapting to different wrist sizes.
According to the invention, a wristwatch case is provided with fastening members of a bracelet on two opposite edges of the housing according to parallel attachment axes. Seen from the side, the housing comprises two articulated sections for pivoting one section relative to the other about a pivot axis parallel to the attachment axes. Each section of the housing extends from the pivot axis to an end arranged to attach the end of a bracelet strand according to one of the axes of parallel fasteners. Pivoting of the two sections of the housing is arranged to allow angular movement of the two sections.
In one embodiment, the two sections of the housing are articulated around widened portions coinciding with each section of round shape, this pivot axis being located in the center of the two widened parts coinciding round shape. Each section of the housing preferably comprises a tapered portion extending from the enlarged portion of round shape to a smaller end arranged to attach the end of a bracelet strand along one of the parallel attachment axes.
In one variant, each section has an almost identical thickness from one end to the other, for example a conventional watch case to which the hinge device according to the present invention would be integrated.
In one embodiment, a first section of the housing has an elongated tapered portion provided at its central upper portion with a display of the watch, and a second section of the housing has a short tapered portion.
According to this embodiment, the length of the first section of the housing is at least twice that of the length of the second section, preferably 2.5 to 6 times longer, measured as appropriate from the midpoint. from the periphery of the enlarged round part.
In a variant, the length of the first section of the housing is between one and twice that of the length of the second section, measured if necessary from the midpoint of the periphery of the widened part of round shape. .
Preferably, the two edges of the wide end of each tapered portion extend along a tangent to the periphery of the enlarged part of round shape.
To best fit the contours of the wrist of a wearer, the internal surfaces of the two sections of the housing have a slightly concave profile, while the outer surfaces of the two sections of the housing have a convex profile with a more pronounced convexity.
For a strong aesthetic rendering, and to take advantage of the available space, the two sections of the housing articulated around the enlarged part of round shape have a central opening in this enlarged part of round shape, this opening extending to through the case. Both ends of this opening can be closed by round opaque or transparent hubcaps and can reveal part of a watch movement is always visible regardless of the inclination of each section.
In order to adapt to most wrists, the angular displacement of the two sections of the housing is 12 ° +/- 25%, preferably 12 ° +/- 10%.
In one embodiment, the watch case comprises a control ring, for example a winding crown whose rod is coaxial with the pivot axis of the housing sections and / or with an axis of a barrel.
In a preferred embodiment, when the first section of the housing has an elongate tapered portion provided at its central upper part with a display of the watch, and a second section of the housing has a short tapered portion, the first section the housing has the form of an open frame having two tapered side faces joined by cross members.
According to this preferred embodiment, the watch case comprises a rectangular or oblong display carried by the tapered portion of the first section of the housing, this display being visible from the outside of the tapered portion of the first section to through a window in the upper part of it.
Still according to this preferred embodiment, the display comprises a visible movement of the tapered portion of the interior of this section through a window in the lower part thereof.
A wristwatch having a housing, according to the present invention, and a bracelet attached to the two opposite edges of the housing, has the particular advantage that the pivoting of the two sections of the housing allows the angular movement of the two sections and an adjustment around the wristband thus allowing to adapt the watch case to the shape of the wrist of a wearer.
The characteristics of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the description of an embodiment given solely by way of example, in no way limiting with reference to the schematic figures, in which:
Figs. 1 and 2 each show a perspective view of a watch case according to the present invention; fig. 3 is a perspective view of a wristwatch having a watch case of FIGS. 1 and 2; fig. 4 is a side view of a watch case schematically illustrating a movement of each of the sections of the watch case; and FIG. 5 shows an exploded view of a watch case and a watch movement adapted to be arranged in said watch case.
As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a wristwatch housing provided with fastening members of a bracelet on two opposite edges of the housing along parallel attachment axes x-x, y-y. Seen from the side, the watch case comprises two sections 1.2 hinged around enlarged portions 3 coinciding with each section, of round shape, for pivoting a section relative to the other about a parallel pivot axis zz to the attachment axes xx, yy, this pivot axis zz being located in the center of the two widened parts 3 coinciding with a round shape. Each section 1.2 of the housing comprises a tapered portion extending from the enlarged portion 3 of round shape to a smaller end 39 arranged to attach the end of a bracelet strand 30 along one of the axes d parallel attachment. The pivoting of the two sections 1, 2 of the housing is arranged to allow an angular displacement of the two sections 1, 2. A first section 1 of the housing has an elongated tapered portion provided at its central upper part with a display 31 of the watch, and a second section 2 of the housing has a short tapered portion.
The two sections of the housing 1.2 articulated around the enlarged portion 3 of round shape comprise a central opening 32 in this enlarged portion 3 of round shape. This central opening 32 extends through the housing and reveals part of a watch movement always visible regardless of the inclination of each of the sections 1,2.
In this configuration, the watch case comprises a control ring 15 whose rod is coaxial with the pivot axis of the housing sections and optionally with an axis of two barrels coupled in series.
The watch case has an almost rectangular display 31 carried by the elongated tapered portion of the first section 1 of the housing. This display 31 is visible from outside the tapered portion of the first section 1 through an ice / window 23 (FIG 5) in the upper part thereof. To allow the wearer to observe the movement, the watch case has another display carried by the tapered lower portion of the first section 1 of the housing. This other display is visible from outside the tapered portion of the first section 1 through a second window / window 8 (FIG 5) in the bottom portion of the watch case. Thus according to this preferred embodiment, the display includes a visible movement of the tapered interior of this section through a window in the lower part thereof.
As illustrated in FIG. 4, the length L1 of the first section 1 of the housing, measured from the midpoint of the periphery of the widened portion 3 of round shape, is about two to four times, in this case 2.5 times longer than the length L2 of the second section 2. The two edges of the wide end of each tapered portion extend along a tangent to the periphery of the enlarged portion 3 of round shape.
Also, as illustrated in FIG. 4, to best fit the contours of the wrist of a carrier, the inner surfaces 34, 35 of the two sections 1.2 of the housing have a slightly concave profile, while the outer surfaces 36, 37 of the two sections of the housing have a convex profile with a more pronounced convexity. In this example, the angular clearance D of the two sections 1.2 of the housing is 12 °.
As illustrated in FIG. 5, the watch case is assembled in the manner of a sandwich. There is a tapered central portion of the housing which has two lateral openings, two openings on the upper part, one for arranging an ice-cream 23 to display the main display, the other for arranging an ice-cream 21 to display a part of the coaxial motion 38.
Moreover, a vortex 33 (FIG 1) is visible through a window 25 arranged at the opposite end of the winding crown 15. The central part of the watch case is arranged to receive the movement of Cylindrical clockwork 38 placed in a cradle made on a frame 11. Seals 9, 10 are arranged between a lateral support 6, 12 and a side of the central portion ensure the sealing movement.
Then, each lateral support 6, 12 receives on its tapered portion a hubcap 5, 13, on which is still positioned a finishing element 4,14. On the round part of each side support 6,12, come to match the external elements of the second section 2 of the watch case. In particular, a ring 27, 16 is arranged between the lateral support 6, 12 and the outer element of the second section 18, 28 so that the first and the second section 1, 2 can pivot relative to each other. to the other.
In a variant not shown, the two sections 1, 2 may have a rest position in which, for example by means of a return spring, when the watch case is not worn, the sections 1, 2 would return automatically to this said rest position.
In this example, an elongate piece 20 is arranged between the outer elements of the second section 18, 28. This elongate piece 20, as well as the other finishing elements 17, 29 arranged on the outer elements 18, 28 , are customizable.
The described watch case can be used for a mechanical watch or an electronic watch. In the same way, the fuselage illustrated by way of example for this watch case can be more or less pronounced depending on the size of the watch case. Thus, according to the present invention, a conventional watch case incorporating two articulated sections can be envisaged, as can a watch case having more than two sections.
